Delete your ZebChat account

1. Who this page is for

This page is for people who sign in to ZebChat, such as owners, admins and agents, in the web dashboard (app.zebchat.com) or the ZebChat app for Android and iOS.

Chatted with a business through its website? Visitors who use a chat widget on a website that runs ZebChat do not have a ZebChat account. The business behind that website controls the chat and the data in it, so ask that business to delete it. If you cannot reach them, email [email protected] and we will help.

2. Delete your account in the app

In the ZebChat app for Android or iOS:

1. Open Settings and tap Delete account.
2. Review what will be deleted and what is kept.
3. Enter your password, and your two-factor code if two-factor authentication is on.
4. Confirm.

3. Delete your account on the web

In the web dashboard:

1. Go to Settings → Profile and find Delete account in the danger zone.
2. Enter your password, and your two-factor code if two-factor authentication is on.
3. Type DELETE and confirm.

Either way, your account is deleted right away and you are signed out on every device. We send a confirmation email, “Your ZebChat account was deleted”, to your address.

4. If you cannot sign in

• Forgot your password? Use Forgot password on the sign-in page to reset it, then delete your account as above.
• Otherwise, email [email protected] from the email address of the account and ask us to delete it. We delete it within 30 days and confirm by email.

5. Before you can delete your account

• Only owner. If you are the only owner of an organization that has other members, first make another member an owner (Settings → Members in the app, or Team → Members in the dashboard), or remove the other members.
• Only member of an organization. If you are the only member of an organization, it is deleted together with your account, and you confirm this explicitly. That includes its websites, chats, visitors, contacts, files and settings.
• Paid subscription. If such an organization has an active paid subscription (Stripe or PayPal), cancel it first on the web under Settings → Billing.

6. What is deleted right away

• your profile: name, email address and profile photo;
• your password, two-factor authentication secret and recovery codes;
• all sign-in sessions and refresh tokens;
• registered devices and push notification tokens;
• your notification preferences and in-app notifications;
• your memberships in organizations, including team and skill memberships;
• API keys you created (they act as you, so they stop working);
• your per-agent statistics and your feedback on AI replies;
• organizations where you were the only member, once you confirm.

7. What is kept, without your name

Some data belongs to the organizations you worked for, as their business records. It stays with them but is no longer linked to you:

• messages you sent in their conversations stay in those conversations, shown as written by “Deleted user”;
• history lines in conversations (such as “… resolved the chat”) show “Deleted user”;
• chats assigned to you go back to the queue;
• saved replies, contacts, knowledge sources, automations and other items you created stay with the organization, without your name;
• the organization’s audit log keeps a record that a member deleted their account.

ZebChat itself keeps only:

• a minimal internal security record that the account was deleted (the date and the account id, no name);
• email delivery logs, for up to 30 days;
• invoices and other billing records of organizations, which our payment providers (Stripe and PayPal) keep for as long as tax and accounting laws require.

Deleted data disappears from our encrypted backups within 30 days.
